There will be a $10 requested donation at the door (to their back room). Entrance will include two beers from Old Black Bear plus bar snacks. We will raffle off some great items including from Old Black Bear Brewery, a Liquor Express ceramic growler, a Land Trust membership, an ICF membership, hiking sticks, among other excellent things!

Whooping Crane Conservation Teacher’s Workshop

The Tennessee Valley Audubon Society and the International Crane Foundation will host an educational workshop on how to use the Whooping Crane trunks! This event is FREE for members of TVAS, HBG, and the Tennessee Valley Environmental Educators. Non-members pay entrance to the botanical garden plus a $5.00 fee.

Many Whooping Cranes – one of the most critically endangered species in North America – are now calling north Alabama their winter home, with Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge as their main draw.

The Tennessee Valley Audubon Society is having a logo contest!

Every successful organization has a logo that makes it stand out from the crowd; we need a good logo! A quality logo is an important first step in establishing anEagle Optics Binoculars organization’s visibility and recognition within its community and beyond. Submit your artwork here!

To entice artists to participate in our contest, we have a FABULOUS set of prizes, including:

NABS Trip to White Springs Dike November 5th

The White Springs Dike area of Wheeler NWR is the best route we have for productive late fall and winter birding and among the best places in the state to get great looks at a variety of waterfowl, which should just be arriving to overwinter. Birding with a group like NABS provides an opportunity to drive behind locked gates (provided we have at least eight people!), thus gaining access to the best areas to see lots of ducks and geese.

Silent Auction, CBCs, and a Potluck at the December Meeting!

We have a lot going on at the TVAS December Member's Meeting, held in the Anderson classroom (in the Butterfly house) of the Huntsville Botanical Gardens on December 1st at 6:30. First, Lisa Gardner will give a brief talk on the Christmas Bird Count and we will provide sign-up sheets for people who wish to participate.
